World Vs. World has been a name on the South Wales music scene since 2007, and has consisted of the current line-up of founder members, Kirk Bowen on vocals/guitar, and Damian Harris on drums being joined by Krist Davison on bass/vocals in late 2009.
After spending many years honing their sound on the road and with the self-released “Our Own Personal Tabloid” and “The Six Degrees of Separation” E.P.s in 2007 & 2009 respectively, World Vs. World have managed to gain a solid reputation as a live act and also in the studio, and this helped contribute to them catching the eye of independent label, Death Monkey Records, with whom they signed in late 2012, recording debut album, The Sentinel Paradox with DMR in 2015.
Musically the band’s influences both differ and unite due to vast musical tastes and backgrounds, and the songs combine haunting vocal melodies woven to intricate but powerful guitars from Kirk, backed up by the solid, flowing basslines and thumping beats of the Krist-Damian rhythm section combination, to create something which sounds both familiar, yet refreshingly different.
Add this to a passionate and energetic live presence and you can see how over the years, World Vs. World have become such a prominent band on the South Wales scene and have gained the respect from fellow musicians, fans, and promoters, alike. It has all also contributed to acquiring a truly worldwide reach with fans in over 80 countries around the world, whilst regularly making the playlists of a number of UK and internet radio stations. As well as being nominated for "Best Rock Band" in the annual Swansea based Jack Swan Awards, World Vs. World's debut single, Bohemian Groove was voted #1 in XRP Radio's "Top 100 Tracks Of 2015"
World Vs. World are currently working on a follow up to The Sentinel Paradox, releasing the lead single, The Beat Of The Alpha [featuring The Artist Taxi Driver] in 2017 with the 2nd single, Sea Of Glass, due February 2018.
Kirk started playing guitar after hearing a friend's copy of Nirvana's Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah live album at the age of 14. His first serious attempt of forming a band was back in 2005 in the shape of post-grunge West Wales 3-piece, Against The Grain.
Against The Grain split up in late 2006, and Kirk, determined not to rest on his laurels, joined forces with Damian Harris and James Morgan (The Afterglow/King Goon/Salvador Sanchez) in January 2007 to form World Vs. World.
Kirk has also been known to dip his toe in the "Solo World" recently and can be found occasionally making the odd rare, unpublicised appearances.
Krist's first encounter with World Vs. World was as the studio engineer for The Six Degrees Of Separation in 2009. He joined the band as Bassist/Vocalist late 2009 and has earned his stripes with well over 250 World Vs. World appearances to date!
As well as playing in World Vs. World, he's also frontman/guitarist in Swansea Pop-Punk band KD Knows My Name, along with playing Drums in Indie/Alternative Swansea 3-piece, Decoys, AS WELL AS performing as solo artist, Inspired!
Krist also runs a candle making business, specialising in ethical, cruelty-free candles under the name The Fox Workshop.
Damian started as guitarist and frontman of his own punk band and quickly moved on to drum for late 90s Swansea 4-piece grunge-punk band Calmus. He has also occasionally played bass, starting with Swansea's Bean(0), with whom he played for a hear or so until he decided to pursue other projects. In 2007 he was looking to go back to drumming and was united with Kirk through a mutual friend, with whom they formed World Vs. World.
Damian refreshed his bass skills in 2009 when he and Kirk recorded the band's 2nd EP, The Six Degrees Of Separation, after the departure of James Morgan. He has since been seen playing live bass for defunct Neath hardcore punk outfit, Struck Out, live drums for South Wales 3-piece, Nine Plan Failed, and is a founder member of Swansea's King Goon, along with currently performing on drums for South Wales punk tribute act, Fat Wreck.
